History of Salt

Salt Church has its roots in the faith adventure of Nick and Viv Campbell, who heard God’s call to plant a church in Knysna in the year 2000.

After four years on eldership at 3Ci Church in Pretoria, they began to sense God stirring something new. Coming from the NCMI family of churches, the call to plant healthy local churches was part of their DNA. Together with their leaders and friends, they prayed and sought God’s direction — and He made it clear: Knysna was the place.

Heart and values of Salt

With God’s Word as our foundation for everything, we feel God has called us to build five houses in Salt: a house of prayer, praise, generosity, belonging and reconciliation. Brick by brick, we hope to faithfully build these houses so that His glory may fill them. (Haggai 2:7)

House of prayer - Isaiah 56:7 “…my house shall be a house of prayer for all people.”

House of praise - Psalm 150:1, 6 “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens… Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”

House of generosity - 2 Corinthians 9:11 “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”

House of belonging - Ephesians 4:11-14 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.”

House of reconciliation - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19  “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”
